Xishan Island Resort

Xishan Island Agricultural Resort is a new standard for agricultural tourism in China. The 650-acre resort is located on Xishan Island of Tai Hu Lake. Through an intentional focus on developing harmony in the landscape, the property brings together young and old, past and future, food, recreation, and community. The master developer for this project is a multi-national firm with operations in New York City as well as Shanghai.

Agriburbia acted as consulting partner throughout the planning of this project, with responsibilities ranging from farm design to economic projections. Agriburbia also provided long term development and activity planning. Throughout a large portion of the property, small to medium sized agricultural fields (1 to 10 acres) provide the means to produce a wide range of fruits, herbs, nuts, and vegetables; kumquats, raspberries, wine grapes, hops, peppermint, leeks, lemon grass, garlic, beets, lettuce, and many more.

Dining, culinary education, recreation and event spaces provide an outlet for each type of agricultural production, while excess production finds its market in local and regional surroundings, bringing long-term value to the resort.
